What is a Skills Bootcamp

The government is introducing new Skills Bootcamps to help tackle the driver shortage by training up to 5,000 new drivers.

Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills, and fast track to an interview with a local employer.

We will be delivering a Skills Bootcamp in HGV Driving, funded by the Department for Education, to help tackle the driver shortage and make the industry more accessible.

Are You Eligible?

You are eligible to apply for a HGV Skills Bootcamp if you are aged 19 or older, employed, self-employed or recently unemployed (in the past 12 months) or are returning to work after a break. You will also need to have a full UK driving licence.

A HGV Skills Bootcamp may be the perfect option if you:

• Have no, or limited, experience in HGV driving and want to get into the industry
• Wish to upgrade your current licence, e.g. C to C+E
• Are returning to the HGV Profession
